The ANWR Rip Off

Based on the current limited amount of information concerning the ANWR drilling proposal the oil companies are getting a huge slice of the oil proceeds.  Then the Alaskans get half of what is left.  And last and least, the rest of the American people get some royalties and tax revenue out of the deal.

I have written on this subject before.  But not until today June 6, 2008, did I realize the scope of this operation and the fascism that it lives and breaths.  Not until today did I see Barack Obama tied to the deaths of millions of people by virtue of his support for biofuels.  And not until today did the little lite bulb come on about the true story of ANWR.

The Republican apologists have really put this one together well.  It is hard to imagine people that want fascism but they seem to want it badly.

First lets do the numbers: According to the sales brochure on the ANWR deal the government will get 42 billion dollars in royalties and another 96 billion in taxes from the ANWR deal.  That is $138 billion and that sounds like a lot.  Its chump change.

According to the sales borchure the amount of oil in the ANWR field is CONSERVATIVELY estimated at 10.4 billion barrels.  At current prices that is 1.355 trillion dollars. It looks like the oil companies and the Republicans get to split 1.2 trillion dollars of OUR money.  The Republicans are gearing up to use the high price of gasoline to force the ANWR deal down the throats of Americans.  If we let them get away with this and the rip off in Iraq you can forget about ever seeing democracy in this country or anywhere else,  It will be fascism forever. That oil belongs equally to every American voter.  It is in the NATIONAL Windlife Refuge that happens to be located in Alaska.  The land is not privately owned and it belongs to the US government and NOT the Alaskans.  In my opinion it would not matter if it was state land or not but from all I can find it is federal land.  WE BOUGHT the whole damned state from the Russians anyway.

The tie to biofuels causing soaring food prices and Obama being a supporter of the
ethanol is just typical Republican demonizing. But it is all put together very well by the right wing noise machine.  It gets down to the Republicans repeating ANWR over and over again while associating Obama with evil biofuels that are starving the poor.  There's also a lot of spun up crap about ugly windmills killing birds and solar collectors destroying the pristine dessert.  But nobody is that stupid, are they?  The oil companies are taking a page out of the tobacco company play book and melding with a Harry and Louise commercial.

I do not like Republican fascists and certainly don't like em picking my pocket to fund their fascist state.  Be on the lookout for these lies about biofuel and Obama.  But smack em with the numbers and the economics and forget about the environmental part. They will expect you to be a lefty moonbat.  They do not expect you to defend your property rights.  Its YOUR oil.  It works out to about $7K per voter.  Enough for a health insurance policy or some real help on the taxes or the gasoline.  Its your money they are stealing. Use the property rights issue to totally kick ass.

China is eager to tap into oil reserves in the Florida Straits and then make a deal with Castro to control it.

Sen. Larry Craig (R-Idaho) has introduced legislation to ease U.S. restrictions that prevent dealing with Cuba to drill in the Florida Straits. It is hoped that Florida regulations that prevent U.S. oil drilling off the state’s coasts could also be eased.

The irony is that Chinese drilling could be even more of an environmental hazard since China is not as concerned about or equipped to deal with any potential ecological disaster as a result of a spill, said Craig.

But you won't here anthing about this oil because it would mean a sane policy with Cuba.  The rightards won't have that because the Cubans use the wrong brand of condoms.

There is also a lot of oil in the Bakken Formation in Montana and North Dakota.

But you won't hear the oil companies or the Republicans talking about this.  And that is because this oil isn't "free" and ready to be "given" as a big gift to the oil companies by the Republicans. This oil is under private land and would have to actually be paid for.

So it will be demonize Obama and screech about the ANWR.  If the ANWR can be done properly it could go a long long way to funding Nationa Health Insurance or a lot of other important programs.
